Is PDFLove really free?

Yes — every feature is free for every user. Scanning, OCR, the AES-256 encrypted vault, PDF password, signatures, watermarks, merge, compress, convert — nothing is gated behind a subscription. The app shows ads to keep it free; if you'd like to remove them, there's an optional one-tap upgrade. That's the only thing the upgrade does.

Is there a storage, page, or document size limit?

No. There's no storage cap, no page limit, and no per-document size limit. Scan as much as you want — free.

Where are my documents stored?

All documents are stored locally on your device. Nothing is uploaded to the cloud. If you uninstall the app, your documents will be deleted.

How does the Vault work?

The Vault protects your sensitive documents with a PIN and AES-256-CBC encryption. Files are encrypted using hardware-backed secure storage (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore). We cannot access or recover your vault PIN — please remember it. The Vault is free for every user — no subscription required.

Does OCR work offline?

Yes. Text recognition is powered by Google ML Kit and runs entirely on your device. No internet connection is required for scanning or OCR.

What languages does OCR support?

PDFLove supports 20+ languages for OCR including English, Spanish, Hindi, French, Arabic, Portuguese, Chinese, Japanese, German, Korean, Italian, Russian, Turkish, Dutch, Polish, Thai, Vietnamese, Indonesian, Malay, and Bengali.

How do I restore my ad-removal upgrade?

The optional upgrade only removes ads — every other feature is free. To restore it, open the app, go to the Premium screen, and tap "Restore Purchases" in the top right. This will restore your upgrade if you've previously purchased on the same Apple ID or Google account.

Can I transfer documents to a new device?

Since all documents are stored locally, they don't automatically transfer between devices. You can share individual documents or export them as PDFs before switching devices.

How do I cancel the ad-removal upgrade?

The ad-removal upgrade is managed as a subscription through your app store:

  • iOS: Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions → PDFLove
  • Android: Google Play Store → Subscriptions → PDFLove

How do I delete my data?

You can delete all local data by going to Profile → Clear Data in the app, or by uninstalling the app. To remove device registration data from our servers, contact us at the email below.
